Faro – Urban Intervention

This video is of the “Dialogue Boxes on Street Windows” art exhibit in Faro.  I was hoping for a better example of storytelling as it relates to the “story” characteristic in Dan Pink’s “A Whole New Mind”.  However, instead of acting merely as a witness, I found that I became part of the story.  Minimalistic-ally, speaking, perhaps.

The interesting part of the exhibit was that it made you explore parts of the city otherwise avoided.  Getting lost down allies,  giving directions to other tourists as they assume that you know where you’re going. (I actually gave directions to some folks in French — go figure).  You had to actively search for the art since there were no indicators pointing to the next piece.  It was a simple, self-directed adventure.  There’s a lesson here about ‘the road less traveled’…
